Hiring a corporate MC - common questions.
Twelve questions that come up most often when booking. If yours isn't here, ask on the contact page.
Booking, lead times and availability
How far ahead to book, what counts as urgent, and how date holds work.
How far in advance should I book a corporate MC?
For end-of-year season (October to December) and EOFY events, 3–6 months ahead is comfortable. Off-peak, 4–8 weeks is usually fine. Earlier always gives more flexibility on rates and date holds.
Do you travel outside Melbourne?
Yes. Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra and regional Victoria are all regular destinations. Travel and accommodation are agreed in writing before booking - no surprises in the invoice.
What if a speaker cancels or the run sheet changes on the day?
It happens regularly - and it's part of the job. Run sheet recovery on the fly is one of the things you're hiring an experienced MC for. The room rarely needs to see the change.
Do you work with not-for-profits and charities?
Yes, and often flexibly on fees for causes I can stand behind. The charity and fundraiser MC page has more detail.
Pricing, travel and what's included
Fees, scope, invoicing and the things people ask twice.
What does it cost to hire you as an MC?
Fees depend on event length, format, travel and prep involved. Most full-night corporate events fall in a range I can quote within 48 hours once I have a brief. Send the date, venue, format and audience size via the contact page and I'll come back with a flat rate.
What's included in your fee?
Brief call, run sheet collaboration, speaker briefings where useful, on-site arrival in time for AV check and walk-through, full hosting on the night, and a short post-event debrief if you want one. For travel events, travel and accommodation are added separately.
Are you GST-registered? Do you invoice?
Yes - ABN registered and GST applied. Payment terms are mutually agreeable. I also carry public liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance.
Can I see you host before booking?
Due to the nature of corporate events, they are rarely filmed. However, I have plenty of vision available from my work as a celebrant and MC, plus a voiceover reel - all available on request.
On the night — run sheet, AV and audience
Material, hybrid delivery, live auctions and venue familiarity.
Do you write your own material?
Yes - every event is bespoke. I work from your run sheet, brand voice and brief, and write the MC sections to match. I don't recycle scripts between clients.
Can you handle live auctions?
Yes, I can run a live auction. That said, if you want to really pack a punch and maximise bids, engaging a professional auctioneer is worth considering - they bring a specific skill set to that part of the night. Happy to talk through what makes sense for your event.
Are you comfortable hosting livestreamed or hybrid events?
Yes. Livestream-aware delivery, camera-ready pacing, and remote-speaker handovers are all standard. For complex hybrid productions I'll run a tech rehearsal day before.
What if my event is in a regional or interstate venue I'm not sure you've worked at?
I've worked across most major Australian convention centres, hotel ballrooms and event spaces. If the venue is new to me, I'll do a pre-event walk-through with your AV team to make sure nothing's a surprise.
